Nueva Mexicana!

Zapoteca Restaurant located at 508 Fore Street is Portland’s best gourmet Mexican restaurant!  The decor is simple and elegant, the service is amazing and the food is out of this world!  We went on a Wednesday evening and sat at the bar.  We had called for reservations earlier in the day however they were already booked for the night - the Owner Tom Bard suggested we come in for happy hour at the bar and then order dinner which we did and it worked out perfectly.

The bar boasts the largest selection of Tequila in Maine.   I had a Pom Blueberry Margarita which is fresh squeezed lime juice, Maine blueberries, fresh pomegranate juice, silver tequila, premium orange liqueur - superb!

We started off with freshly made, chunky jalapeno, avocado guacamole served with crisp tortilla chips.  For dinner we shared the Enchiladas Suizas De Pollo which is wood oven roasted enchiladas filled with tender chicken breast & local artisan jack cheese, creamy fire-roasted tomatillo sauce, black beans & guajillo ensalada.  We savored and enjoyed this dish.  The patrons next to us suggested we try the flourless chocolate cake made with chipotle pepper and rich Mexican chocolate and we were so glad we did!  The perfect ending to a wonderful dining experience.  We will definitely be going back!
